Umbra Volatilis — "the flying shadow": the point where light meets darkness and music is born. Two worlds, each on its own path — melody goes its way, word goes its own, and the song emerges where they meet.
Umbra Volatilis is not the name of one person — it is an idea. The author and creative mind behind the project — Maxim Rogoza — builds the concept, themes and drama of the albums, while who exactly stands behind the voices, arrangements and details — let that remain part of the mystery.
At the heart of the project is a dream collection, «Dance with Shadow», by Maxim Rogoza: each dream, recorded and shaped into a literary text, became a separate story, and that story became a song. The melody is born as an instrumental piano piece, then grows into an orchestra, and only then do words and voice find their place.
Genre: cinematic orchestral pop. Instruments vary from track to track: piano, cello, flute, strings, electric guitar, brass.
Debut album «As I Am» was released on July 24, 2026.
Literary dream collection
Every song on the album grew from a real dream, recorded and shaped into a story. The dreams were collected over several years. Music is the way to complete them.
Two people climb an abandoned lighthouse in a storm. They need to light the flame. The staircase is broken. But they're not alone.
